Sumit Biswas has 20 years of experience, during which he has provided Director-level leadership in all aspects of business change. His two specialisms are architecting and embedding transformational change in business operations; and developing and improving services.
Sumit offers a blend of skills: a strategic, consulting and business focus alongside a practical engagement on the cultural and human issues involved in supporting change. He is known for a highly facilitative approach in working with top teams on business decision making and programme implementation.
His clients have included Chief Executives of public sector bodies, institutions, and a 5000-employee quoted organisation. Assignments have ranged from cost effectiveness to culture change, organisation restructuring to sustainability.
His early career was consulting with Bain and Company, the strategy consultants, followed by some 15 years on in-house business change work.
Within the retail businesses of Thorn, his roles moved from business development and store management to customer service development, with an emphasis on operational improvement, and process redesign.
Sumit was Director of Planning for Telewest’s General Cable franchise, leading business transformation and customer service change programmes. His telecoms experience continued with 5 years in UK Director positions at Vodafone, leading teams on cross-organisational change, internal consulting and customer service development.
He is a graduate of Bristol University and Bristol Business School, member of the Institute of Physics, Strategic Planning Society and the Client-Centred Network. Sumit is Non-Executive Director for the NHS Primary Care Trust in Oxfordshire, and an alumni of the Prince of Wales’ Business and the Environment programme.
Sumit lives near Oxford, England, and when not busy with his three children, he likes to cook and do orchestral violin playing.
