Dr Wendall Pietersen

Wendall Pietersen brings more than 30 years of experience of working with individuals and teams, helping them to change both academically and personally in multicultural settings. He is South African, now Italian citizen, and a former professor and practitioner in the Social Sciences at the University of the Western Cape. He obtained both undergraduate and graduate degrees in South Africa and The United States. He also practised as Social Worker, Community Organisation Leader during difficult periods of the Apartheid regime. In his academic positions, he led numerous projects focused on public health and community organisation activities. In addition to his academic activities, Wendall also worked as a behavioural clinical consultant for both private and public institutions.

In 1978, he moved to the United States where he served as a graduate school visiting professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he also lectured in the School of Public Health and the Department of African Studies. Working with the United Nations, Wendall was appointed as Assistant Director of the Council of International Programmes. Wendall provided the primary direction for staff and the university working with international executives living abroad. The Council hosted working professionals from over 15 different countries while they completed graduate degree programmes.

Wendall moved to Italy in 1980 where he took a post as full professor at the University of Modern Languages in Milan where he also started the first courses in the School of Public Relations. In Europe, he has collaborated with various institutions such as the Research Institute of Mario Negri, Assoreni Group, Royal Dutch Shell and Castle Cement Ltd. Wendall specialises in leadership coaching, conflict resolution, organisation behaviour and effective communication skills. He currently lives in Milan where he works as an executive coach and Leadership training consultant.

Wendall is married and has two grown-up daughters.
